BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER
FLUSHING CLEANING SOLVENT FOR DISPENSING EQUIPMENT
LOW PRESSURE PU TECHNOLOGY
Biosane Lotis PU Cleaner
REMOVAL OF POLYURETHANES
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is the ideal solvent for removing polyurethane in mixing chambers and on flow heads of low-pressure dispensing machines. It is suitable for the removal of compact resins, foams, and RIMs. It is also an excellent cleaning agent for removing burrs from polyurethane seals used in glazing and glass works, and for cleaning of dispensing tools such as spatulas and dispensing guns.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is also suitable for cleaning the tanks used for resin and paint manufacturing; it also removes pigments and colouring paste.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is not flammable. Its high flash point allows it to be used safely, at low and high temperatures.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER contains no substance harmful to health (French Decree dated 9 November 2004): Its constituents are not toxic, carcinogenic, mutagenic, toxic for reproduction, harmful, irritating, sensitising or corrosive.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER does not emit hazardous vapours and is not toxic or harmful through skin contact.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is even comfortable to use:
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is almost odourless and does not dry the skin. Being non-volatile, this material causes no dizziness, headaches, or nauseous feelings.
“The risk associated with a chemical agent harmful to the health and safety of workers must be eliminated”. “The risk is minimized by substituting harmful chemical agents with other, non-harmful or less harmful chemical agents or chemical processes”.
French labour code, Art. R 231-54 6. European Directive 98/24/CE
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is practically non-volatile (1000 times less than methylene chloride).
In practice, BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER reduces organic vapour emissions to 0%. This allows polyurethane casting workshops, double-glazing manufacturing facilities, as well as elastomer, paint and colouring paste manufacturers, to easily comply with COV emissions limits (French Decree dated 29 May 2000) during cleaning stages.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER does not emit any substances which are hazardous to the ozone layer or contribute to global warming.
Methylene chloride :
Carcinogen, and particularly hazardous because it is extremely volatile and can be inhaled very easily. It requires costly investments to comply with regulations regarding VOCs and worker exposure (French Decree 2003-1254): confined installations, vapour removal by suction at the source of release, exposure studies for each worker, respiratory masks, measurements of vapour concentrations inside workshop and at outlet of vapour extractors. In addition, methylene chloride was included in the Copenhagen Accords in 2009. Its use will be banned in the near future.
"Decision 455/2009/EEC of the European Parliament and Council amends Directive 76/769/EEC of the Council, regarding limitations on marketability and use of dichloromethane”. It specifically states that at an early stage, "only paint strippers based on dichloromethane are concerned. Marketing of these products will be prohibited starting from 2010”. Dichloromethane-based paint strippers which were put on the market before this decision, will be banned for sale as of 2011. »
DMF (dimethylformamide) :
Toxic for reproduction, and harmful through inhalation and skin contact. Particularly hazardous because it passes through the skin very easily. Also requires tedious monitoring of user exposure, as well as stricter medical monitoring (Decree CMR 2001-97).
DBE (Dibasic esters) :
Dibasic ester mixtures are insufficiently effective, and leave residues of polyol/isocyanate mixtures which polymerise and build up progressively with each casting. These residues cause turbine fouling and reduce mixing effectiveness. Ultimately, the mixing head must be dismantled and the turbine soaked in acetone (highly flammable and massive releaser of OCVs) or methylene chloride, which is known to be hazardous.
DBE/NMP mixtures (dibasic esters/N-Methylpyrrolidone) :
To compensate for the limited effectiveness of dibasic esters, certain mixtures containing NMP (N-Methylpyrrolidone) are offered on the market. NMP is a known carcinogen and is toxic for reproduction. It was classified as a CMR in December 2010.
Plasticising oils (MESAMOLL) :
Plasticisers (softening agents for plastics) are also offered as polyurethane cleaners. The solvent/thinning effectiveness of these products is limited. They are very viscous (30 to 200 times more viscous than BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER) and leave a thick film in the mixing chamber and on the turbine. Moreover, these plasticisers are more expensive than the usual solvents, and also cost more than BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER.
MMCC MICROCHEM has chosen to offer innovative, durable solutions which are independent from the oil market. BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER is one of these solutions.
BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER predominantly contains derivatives of vegetable materials and of substances naturally present in the environment.
COMPACT POLYURETHANE DISPENSING MACHINE
Following polyurethane injection, the wash cycle is as follows :
Air blowing for 10 seconds.
Injection of BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER for 3 seconds.
Air blowing for 30 seconds.
Injection in free-flow mode for complete residue removal.
These time values are given for reference only and may vary with polyurethane type.
During the wash cycle, the mixing chamber may be positioned above a metal barrel fitted with a funnel, in order to collect the effluents of BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER. Those effluents can be filtered (metal filter, thickness 0.6 mm); the mixture can also be decanted for 24 hours.
This allows the BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER to be reused up to 4 consecutive times. BIOSANE LOTIS PU CLEANER can also be used for soak stripping turbines on which polyurethane residues have polymerised, especially in case of foams with very short reaction time.
Store in a protected area, in temperate atmosphere, before use.
Avoid using this product for seals made of Neoprene®, Buna, Chlorobutyl, Butyl, or Viton. Compatible with PTFE seals (tests performed at 20°C, 80°C, and 100°C)
